Clow Group undertook the design, fabrication and installation of a complete roof access system for the architecturally award winning Glasgow Central Station in the west of Central Scotland.
Over 1,300 tonnes of aluminium were installed as part of a £35m restoration project for Glasgow Central Station.
The specification of the project was to provide safe access to all vertical and sloping surfaces of the roof for cleaning and maintenance, whilst adhering to stringent safety regulations.
The system employed incorporated access cradles, gantries, handrails and over 5.6km of hinged open tread access walkways.
Gantries, sliding ladders and mobile safety cages were designed to run smoothly on safety track to ensure the safety of all maintenance personnel.
