at the Diamond Centre, Coleraine

The Clow Group Ltd. were commissioned to design, fabricate and install an unobtrusive access platform providing safe and secure roof access to the pyramidical glass dome at the Diamond Centre in Colerain, Northern Ireland.

Due to the need for an unobtrusive solution, which would allow access for cleaning and maintenance of the glass dome structure, the system was designed with safety runner rails for lanyard connections thus eliminating the need for handrail structures around the perimeter of the access platform.

The Access Ladder Stairs were manufactured from aluminium to BS5395 Part 3 and the non-slip surface of the access platform is constructed from yellow glassfibre grating with a gritted top surface. This material provides an excellent slip resistant, lightweight, low maintenance and corrosion resistant solution. For more information on this material please see the Glassfibre Gratings page on this website.

Access to the glazed panels at the top of the pyramid was provided by means of four portable access ladders attached to the glazing bars on the structure.
